Customer Reviews So far so good Date: 2009-12-20 | Rating: 4 Currently the best value for high-capacity portable drives. Note that it is 80% thicker and heavier than their "regular" enclosures. Nice simple backup and sync software that is slightly improved over the previous version. Unfortunately, the software will not backup network disks (even if they're mapped to a drive letter), and the backup software doesn't work if you reformat the disk as FAT32/EXFAT (it must be NTFS). My only other gripe is that I would like to plug it into an Apple Airport Extreme wireless router (for Network storage, and this which requires reformatting the disk as HFS+ (Mac format) or FAT32 (cross-platform). As I don't have a Mac, the former isn't an option, and the latter is no longer possible with Windows 7 & Vista SP2. It took me awhile to find a utility that worked, so it would be great if Seagate would provide one. I used the free program "FAT32 Formatter". If they would fix the above shortcomings, I'd readily give this drive 5 stars. It looks to be an excellent value for money (assuming it lasts). FYI, the manual directs Mac users to [...] to download Mac Software. |
